This research is divided into three stages:

1. In the 1960s.

The BaCO 3 +C=BaO+2CO reaction equilibrium was studied at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and the results showed that the catalyst barium carbonate could not decompose and generate cyclic reactions in the carburizing box, which proved that the catalytic mechanism of the Chemical Reaction Mode Mechanism -CRMM was incredible. The first paper, " Catalysis of Carbonates in solid carburizing agents," was published in 1963.

2. In the 1970s,

The catalytic and poison action of Fe,Co,Ni,Cu,Ag and S on the reduction effect of the iron oxide by carbon were studied in Shanghai Powder Metallurgy Plant, The results show that ECDAM or EODRM is reliable, but the CRMM is unreliable.

3. In the 1980s, 

Relying on graduate students at the Shanghai Research Institute of Materials, the mechanism of graphite dissolving into ɤ-Fe and the influence of alloying elements on the dissolving rate in iron-graphite press cake during sintering were studied. The results show that the carbon in Fe-graphite blocks is dissolved into ɤ-Fe in an indirect way, and the carbon gasification reaction is still a control step, and this is true even under vacuum conditions. At the same time, it has also been proved that the W, K 2 CO 3 appear catalytically active, and sulfur is a poison. It has also been proved that hydrogen appears to have catalytic activity for carbon gasification reactions. Once again the ECDAM or the EODRM proved to be reliable, and the CRMM is unreliable.
